The first passive house (Minergie-P) in Switzerland that has been realised using Steko is located in Neunkirch / SH. The stately, traditional single-family house has got the highest possible heating insulation value (u value 0.13W/m2K). The exterior wall construction is insulated with 160 mm Steko, outside further 220mm wood fibre insulation have been added in two layers. The wood casing and the partial plaster panels on the outside work as weather protection. In addition to the high insulating value particular importance was placed on outstanding air tightness.

The architecturally successful single-family house was built using the Steko construction. The interplay of the plastered building parts and the wood cladding, which is painted in light blue, gives the house specific suspense. The simple roof form of monopitch roof and flat roof is reflected in the generous interior. The design and execution are from the architectural office of Sandro Imbimbo in Gerzenbach. |

The modern residential buildings are located in a scenically interesting area above the Lago Maggiore. They were erected in 2002.
The worldwide renowned star architect Mario Botta, Lugano (CH) was responsible for the design and architecture. The wood construction system Steko is the carrier system, which remains visible in the interior and appears as modern wood construction there. The building skeleton has got a very good heat insulation value. The back-ventilated façade cladding consists of „Rheinzink“, a material of fine zinc, copper and titanium..
The committed woodworker Giacomazzi e Ruffini SA, Avengno erected the Steko buildings under the management of Ennio Maggetti, Minusio within a few days.

Since 2002 the house, which was built in 1981, has been a two-storey building with a fully developed roof storey. Only the surrounding parting line in the plaster between the ground floor and the upper floor indicates the different walls, which are behind. |

In Greenland STEKO is used for buildings. „Grönländisches Familienhaus Jahr 2000“ was the title of an architectural competition in the Nordic countries. The architects Schmidt, Hammer & Lassen from Denmark won this competition with an ecological, economic and artistically intelligent and exemplary project. The modular Steko wood construction carried out also meets the high requirements in extreme climate regions. The floors, walls, ceilings and roofs were pre-fabricated and mounted in the shortest time possible. STEKO holds its ground in extreme climate regions and against the strongest international competitors. |

The design of the house of H. Schmid in Schaffhausen emerged in the workshop of the architect Patrik Jeuch. The lines in the interior of the house are continued outside. Due to these shapes flowing transitions from interior to exterior emerge..
On the ground floor the Steko walls are clad with plaster panels. On the upper floor the Steko modules remain natural. Together with the suspenders and beams of laminated timber they show the clear bearing structure of the building. The building was erected in the winter/spring 2000. |

With their house high above St. Gallen and Lake Constance family Kühne demonstrates that a house can be particularly attractive and modern in its building and décor not just on the outside but also on the interior. Their Steko house was planned in the architectural office Frei & Gmünder, St. Gallen and was built in 1999. |

Above the village centre of Beringen on a steep hillside there is the Steko house of the family Widmer. The architectural office Reich & Bächtold, Schaffhausen was responsible for the design. The overall responsible entrepreneur was the wood building company Vögeli AG, in Göchlingen, which can already look back to successful and manifold experiences with Steko.

This house was built in 1999. The architectural office Reich & Bächtold developed this house. The light-blue areas of the façade are horizontal upend casings. Plywood was inserted in the pediments. The colouring of these plywood boards is continued with the windows and doors. In the interior the walls are mainly plastered. The bottom ceiling and roof views are of large visible three-layered panels.

Single person and two-people households are the trend. Why not design a house for that? Ruth Schwarzenbach, an interior architect, personally realised her own idea. She lovingly calls the two houses "Einerkiste" and "Zweierkiste" (one-person and two-people box). Discretely and still a unit the two "boxes" are attached to one another.
Despite the small exterior measurements of the house the rooms are generous due to the clever room partition. Daylight floods through the wall-high window areas into the bright rooms. The view from the living room through the window areas into the garden with seating and a pond allows for the holiday ambience to develop. |

For the minimum energy house Reich in Salez only the renewable energies sun and wood are used for the generation of heat and warm water. The two buildings have got a volume of 1,250m3 and are equipped with controlled ventilation with heat recovery, which leads 80 percent of the exhaust air heat back to the house via fresh air. The sun collector area of 24m2 on the roof is also part of the sophisticated energy concept of the house as is the wood stove with heat exchanger and a warm water reservoir with an integrated boiler of together 3,170 litres in contents.

At 1800 m above sea level in Arosa there is the Steko house of the architect Georg Pfister from Zurich. The engineering office Josef Kolb AG, Kesswil, which disposes of huge experiences in calculating Steko buildings, had to consider huge snow loads. In order to increase the load bearing capacities of the Steko walls solid wood thresholds were used. |

Right in the centre of the town St. Gallen there is an extraordinary Steko wood house. A long, narrow cube, slightly trapeze-shaped in its floor plan it is well embedded in the difficult basic conditions. The plot is narrow and steep.

The horizontal direction of the long walls is emphasised with the lying, open larch casing and the long window areas. The roof is greened. The object is a classic example for the modern architecture in wood construction. This also includes the use of the most modern house technology. The house, which has been designed and planned in the architectural office Haas in Arbon, demonstrates new perspectives in today's urban apartment construction. |

The Villa Schmidhalter is located high up in the Swiss winter sports centre Crans Montana. The huge snow loads mean particularly high requirements regarding the load bearing capacities of the construction whilst the extreme climatic conditions presuppose the impeccable building structural qualities of the wall and roof constructions. Both requirements could be met perfectly using Steko. The house with its chalet style was planned in the office Schmidhalter & Pfammatter AG in Brig. The Steko walls were kept visible in the interior. The façade consists of a crude crown-moulding casing of larch. The large porch is typical for the building style in the Swiss Alps. The carpenters Hermann in Albinen erected the house in 1997. It is remarkable how quickly Steko also appealed to people in such a traditional wood construction area such as the Valais Ð a chalet in Steko construction . |

Interesting combinations of materials and colours characterise the semi-detached single-family house, which was built in 1997 and planned in the architectural office Frei & Gmünder of St. Gallen. The façade consists of blue, back-ventilated, cement-bound wood chipboards. The roof clearly distinguishes itself from the building skeleton. The simple, modern architecture is expressed recognisably and at the same time brings advantages for comfort and budget. |
