Kneubühler, Richenthal (CH)

This stately three-family dwelling was realised in the spring of 2002 in Richenthal using the Steko wood construction system. All exterior walls and interim walls (approximately 530 m2) from the ground floor to the roof have been erected using Steko. The floor elements were fabricated in the workshop of the carpenter company Kneubühler, Richenthal and were erected continually during the building phase.
The architectural office Röösli & Partner in Reiden was commissioned with the planning. The play in the interior with plastered and visible Steko wall parts was a conscious feature of the principal.

Hohlenbaum, Schaffhausen (CH)

The building complex Hohlenbaum consists of two multiple family dwellings of Steko construction. They were erected in 1998 and 1999 under the leadership of the architectural office Reich & Bächtold, Schaffhausen. Due to the simple concept and the fast Steko construction in combination with the generous ceiling elements (solid wood) the two houses were completed in the shortest possible time. The use of Steko in the apartment building, which has got several floors, demonstrates the excellent load bearing capacities of the product.
The materials used and the buildings constructed are characterised by good sound insulation features. In particular for the apartment partitioning ceilings this is an important criterion for multiple family dwellings. The outstanding living quality is appreciated highly amongst all residents. The back-ventilated exterior skin consists of small fibre cement panels and extensive roof greenery.

Residence for the elderly, Elgg (CH)

senioren

The multiple family dwelling, which was erected in 2001, consists of six generous apartments. Low costs for the energy generation, good sound insulation values and a comfortable living climate were decisive features for the principals. The architects Valsecchi, Elgg and Herzog, Zurich, realised the same in a successful building.
The wood building company Stutz, Elgg erected the wood construction using Steko construction and the ceilings stack plank construction. As façade cladding colourfully painted, multi-layered solid wood panels were used.
