Schmid, Schaffhausen (CH)

This house was built in 1999. The architectural office Reich & Bächtold developed this house. The light-blue areas of the façade are horizontal upend casings. Plywood was inserted in the pediments. The colouring of these plywood boards is continued with the windows and doors. In the interior the walls are mainly plastered. The bottom ceiling and roof views are of large visible three-layered panels.

As common with all Steko houses this house stands out for its above-average heat insulation. In the winter the solid Steko wall works as a heat reservoir for the warmth, in the summer it keeps the room pleasantly cool. In connection with the high, generous rooms an incomparable and healthy living climate has been achieved.
